Saturday Monthly Art Workshops with Sue Clayton

Suitable for all levels, beginners very welcome…don’t be afraid

January 12th

Traditional portrait painting working in acrylic paint. Blocking in forms, shapes and tones. Just bring along paints, brush and canvas/acrylic paper. Reference photo will be provided.

February 9th

A vanitas still life will be set up ready for you to capture in paint. We will explore famous artists in this style and look at the symbolic references within the still life. Suitable for acrylic painters but watercolour and pastel welcome

March 9th

Expressive portraits in watercolour. A chance to loosen up your style, this session will have you spritzing water and splashing paint with surprising results.

April 13th

Seated Life Study.  We will have a clothed model for the session.  Great for you portrait artists too. We will look at basic techniques to aid our drawing skills for you then to complete in your chosen medium.

May 11th

Painting animals with personality.  Whether this be your own furry friend or a wild life study we will explore how to capture their likeness and personality on paper.

June 8th

A Cezanne inspired still life. Back by popular demand – oranges, baskets, jugs and drapery – let’s get those lush colours out.

July 13th

Summer is here! Creating holiday memories in pen and wash. We will explore how to edit and plot your sketches to produce a great memento, postcard or framed work or art.

August 10th

Loose expressive watercolour – flowers. We will be creating beautiful, vibrant blooms in some surprising methods.

September 14th

The reclining figure – working from a clothed life model we will look at the how to plot the figure in space and rendering flesh tones. Suitable for acrylic, pastel or watercolour.

October 12th

An abundant seasonal still life will be on display..pumpkins galore! Tackle in either watercolour, pastel or acrylic.

November 9th

Linocut Christmas cards

You will produce 10 hand printed cards with your very own hand linocut to reuse again and again.  All tools, card and professional printmakers ink provided. (£3 additiional charge to cover costs)


Unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Unlimited free on street parking at this great picturesque location.
